Part 1: the setup
Four episodes, released on November 26, 2025: “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler,” “The Turnbow Trap” and “Sorcerer.” It is the setup volume: the town under quarantine, the incursions into the Upside Down, Holly's kidnapping, and a revelation about Will that closes the block. A little more than four and a half hours.

Part 2: the turn
Three episodes, released December 25, 2025, Christmas Day: "Shock Jock," "Escape From Camazotz" and "The Bridge." The most emotional volume: the pirate radio, the return of two former characters, the waking awaited since 2022, and an assault that costs a character. About three and a half hours, with episodes longer than in part 1.

Part 3: the finale
A single episode, "The Rightside Up," released December 31, 2025, at 2 h in the morning French time on January 1. More than two hours: the final battle and an epilogue set in May 1989. It is the only episode of the show to have been screened in theaters, in North America, the night of its release.
Part 3 or finale?The platform never said “Volume 3”: it talked about the “finale”. But with a separate date, fans counted it as a third part, and that is how the season is searched for.
Why three parts
Season 4 had inaugurated the two-volume release. For the last one, the Duffers explained that the eight episodes formed three movements, each ending on a turn, and that the pauses let the audience digest. The five weeks between Parts 1 and 2 were the most intense in the history of the show for theories; the six days between Parts 2 and 3, the shortest.
How to watch them today
The split no longer matters: the eight episodes are available in one block. The fans' advice is still to respect the three movements, one evening per part, and to keep the finale for a moment when you have two and a half hours ahead of you.

Two outside directors marked the season. Frank Darabont, coming out of retirement, signs chapters 3 and 5; he was only supposed to direct one, but took over the one Dan Trachtenberg had to drop for Predator: Badlands. Shawn Levy, a producer since the first season, directs chapter 6 and co-directs 7.
The game endings, and why they are there
Part 1 ends on Will freezing three Demogorgons in mid-flight. The Duffers explained they wanted to close the first block on that contrast: the lowest point, the eight children taken by Henry, immediately followed by the highest point, the revelation of Will's power. They said they knew right away it was “the right moment” to cut.
Part 2 ends on Holly, alone in Henry's mind, betrayed by the other children as the worlds begin to merge, and on the group entering the Upside Down. Six days were left to wait, the shortest cut in the history of the show, before the December 31 finale.
The creators stressed that this split was intended from the writing, unlike that of Season 4, imposed by the pandemic. The season was thought in three acts, not cut into three pieces.
The two evenings when everything fell
On November 26, 2025, despite bandwidth increased by 30%, the platform went down a few minutes after Part 1 went online. The scenario repeated on December 31 at the finale's release. In France, each block arrived at 2 a.m., which limited the effect for French viewers, but social media largely relayed the error screenshots.
For part 3, an alternative existed in the United States and Canada: 620 movie theaters screened the last chapter on New Year's Eve and on January 1, with more than a million tickets sold in advance as concession vouchers, a workaround tied to the actors' contracts.
How it went in France
For the French audience, each block arrived at 2 a.m., Paris time: November 27 at 2 a.m. for part 1, December 26 at 2 a.m. for part 2, January 1 at 2 a.m. for the finale. New Year's Eve therefore ended, for many, in front of the last chapter.
The French version followed the same calendar, dubbing included. The theater screening, however, only concerned the United States and Canada: in France, the finale was only seen at home, which explains part of the searches for a possible “Part 3” in theaters.
