There is no secret episode
The show has 42 episodes, all listed, all numbered, all available on the platform. None is unlocked by a code, a trick or a date. The videos that promise an “episode 43” or a “hidden chapter” are fan edits or recut trailers. What exists is more discreet.

The scenes after the credits
The main source of the rumor. At the end of the last episode of Season 3, after the credits, a scene in a Soviet prison shows guards feeding a Demogorgon and mentioning “the American”: that is the announcement of Hopper's return. A lot of viewers missed it by letting autoplay move on, hence the idea of hidden content.
Season 4 has no scene after the credits; Season 5 does not either. The last image of the show is the group around a game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Second source: “The Lost Sister,” seventh episode of season 2, entirely devoted to Eleven and Kali in Chicago, with no other character. Shot like a pilot, cut off from the rest, it was so poorly received that some skip it, and that others believe it optional or “bonus.” It is not: season 5 relies on Kali, and that is where she is introduced.

The “Conformity Gate”: the January 2026 theory
The last hidden-episode rumor is also the biggest. After the December 31, 2025 finale, a theory dubbed “Conformity Gate” claimed a ninth chapter would come out in secret on January 7, 2026. It leaned on Eleven's open fate, on Mike's theory around Kali, on the door Mike closes, and on date details read as clues.
On January 7, nothing came out. The influx of the curious caused slowdowns on the platform, and the show's accounts finally reminded people that no episode would follow.
